Do I need to know how to dance?
NO! You do not need any previous dance experience. If you love music, this is the
class for you! All you need is a fun attitude. The basics are taught to you. If you do
have dance experience this is a good way to add new moves and styles.
What kind of a workout should I expect?
Zumba is a high/low impact cardio fitness class. Be prepared to sweat, learn new
moves and have fun! You should move at your own pace and you’ll get out of the
class what you put into it. The class lasts 1 hour and is intended to be a party-like
atmosphere so you don’t even feel like you’re working out. You will begin with a
warm-up to get your body ready, then you’ll move your body to all types of rhythms
and finally you’ll cool down and stretch.
What should I wear?
Wear comfortable clothes that you can move in (workout clothes). Because you’ll be
twisting, pivoting and sliding the best shoes for Zumba are supportive cross trainers
with not much rubber at the bottom. No bare feet, please.
What should I bring ?
Lots of water! Remember to stay hydrated before, during and after the class. Bring a
small towel as you’ll be sweating and having fun! Bring a friend! Get friends to come
to class, this just makes the experience more fun and gives you and extra boost to
stay motivated to fulfill your fitness goals!
I can’t get the steps, what should I do ?
Don’t worry! This is not a dance contest and no one is judging your skills. Just make
up something and keep moving. No one is looking at you as they are busy having
fun. Good news is that after you come to class a few times you will feel more and
more comfortable with the movements. Once you get more comfortable just USE
YOUR BODY AND FEEL THE MUSIC!
